My thanks to the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor for interviewing me recently in advance of my talk on Monday to the Library of Congress on Lao American poetry, and our literature in diaspora with Hmong American writer Kao Kalia Yang and Lao American creator Thavisouk Phrasavath. This is a historic conversation- the first time in 45+ years of our diaspora that Lao American writers have been brought in to discuss our work at the largest library in the United States.
In my interview with the Rudolf Steiner School, I reflect on the years where I studied as likely the very first Lao American student in the Waldorf education system during the 1980s. I discuss my journey and how others might engage the arts and advocacy in their own work as young students. I hope you find it helpful.
