I first became aware of Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre in the mid-2000s and we’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to present with one another in the past. I’ve always been impressed with his commitment to community, social justice and spoken word. Many of his works contain strong elements of speculative poetry that I encourage many emerging poets to look at as they consider their own possibilities.
He recently released his new collection “Not A Lot Of Reasons To Sing But Enough,” through Button Poetry. I had a chance to look through an advanced copy and I strongly recommend it for both new readers and long-time fans of his. He continues to push his verse to the outer boundaries of the imagination while keeping a human touch throughout it all that will speak profoundly to readers anywhere. Definitely a “Don’t Miss” of 2022!
