Welcome to the 12 ນາກ Nak of Laomerica Challenge!
For Round 1, can you identify all 12 of these ນາກ from across the US and which city’s temples they’re from?
Nak ນາກ: Guardians of Lao Buddhist temples around the world, the Nak are shapeshifters. They are often depicted as titanic serpents, some with numerous heads. Nak typically dwell in rivers or beneath the earth, particularly pristine bodies of water.
They are associated with magic, fertility and water, including the rain, floods, and rainbows. Some romance humans or seek enlightenment. In the Lao tradition, novice Buddhist monks are also given the title of Nak, to remember a Nak who once sought to be a disciple of the Buddha.
