Interview: Sokunthary Svay on Memories, Diaspora and Verse

I recently interviewed Khmer American poet Sokunthary Svay for Asian American Press following a review of her debut book Apsara in New York for Consequence Magazine. She launched her book at the famed Poets House in New York in late September.

She had some very interesting thoughts and perspectives on where Cambodian poetry and art might go in the future, and I hope her advice will be useful for many emerging Southeast Asian American writers and poets looking to find their own distinctive voice in the years ahead.

For those who are curious, here are a few of my other interviews with other Asian American poets and writers from a long time ago.
